Tesla's latest FSD Beta, version 10.12 was set to be released earlier this week.
Elon initially said that beta 10.12 would probably be released in the US on Tuesday and in Canada on Friday, however, he has now adjusted the timing to this weekend.
It's not clear whether this means employee testing or public testing would begin this weekend, or whether it'll be released in the US and Canada at the same time.
Our take is that beta 10.12 is likely in the later rounds of QA testing right now and will be released to employees tomorrow. Public testers would then start getting the beta this weekend.
For a while, Tesla's QA team was consistently signing off on FSD Betas on Thursdays. Tesla would then release the beta for further testing to employees the following day, and then ultimately release the beta to external testers.
If the same holds for this release we'll likely see the first signs of the beta, including FSD release notes tomorrow.
The previous beta (version 10.10) went out much slower than usual to all testers, leaving many testers on some variant of 10.8 or 10.9 for several weeks. It wasn't until the release of 10.10.2 that Tesla migrated most testers to the latest release. FSD Beta 10.10.2 was a big step up in terms of vehicle visualizations. In this release Tesla now dynamically resizes vehicle models to correspond to their calculated size.
It's great to get an updated timeline for beta 10.12 from Elon, but keep in mind the date can still shift if additional issues are found with the release.
If FSD Beta 10.12 starts rolling out this weekend, I'd still expect Tesla to start with the US release first making its first splash in Canada.
