Back in 2020, Elon Musk said that Tesla would soon render other Tesla vehicles on the screen as their own model and color, instead of using a generic gray sedan.
After six years, Tesla has yet to deliver this and the reason is likely a change in how they perceive the in-vehicle visualizations should be used.
While Tesla could render more colorful and realistic visualizations, they likely don’t want to crowd the visualization area of the screen. If a driver wants a realistic view of their environment, then they can easily look out of their windshield.
Instead the visualizations should only display relevant and important items — hence the gray tone for most of the items. When an object becomes important, it’ll turn blue or red.
While we’d still love for Tesla to render other Tesla vehicles in the visualization or map if you own more than one vehicle, displaying the vehicle’s color likely falls into the territory of too much information.
This could be similar to how Tesla displays other vehicle models in the 3D site maps.
Yeah. Display will also soon render Teslas specifically as their model & color instead of as a generic sedan/SUV. Has potential for a fun punch buggy sort of game.
