Tesla Scales Down Tesla Diner Menu to Handle Unprecedented Demand

The recently opened Tesla Diner in Los Angeles, which has received global attention since its launch, is already making changes to its menu to keep up with its own success. According to Tesla Diner Chef Eric Greenspan, the menu has been scaled down to increase efficiency after the location continued to see unprecedented demand.

The diner, designed by Tesla’s Senior Design Executive, Franz von Holzhausen, has quickly become a popular landmark for both Tesla owners and the general public.

We know Tesla loves to cut parts to streamline their vehicle production - but this is the first time we’ve heard of a car manufacturer cutting food to streamline operations. To reduce wait times and make things easier during this period of demand, several items have been removed from the menu, at least for the time being.

  • Market Salad

  • Chicken & Waffles

  • Club Sandwich

  • Epic Bacon

  • Hash Brown Bites

  • Biscuits and Red Gravy

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • Veggie Patties (for the hamburger)

  • Classic Fountain Drinks (Shirley Temple, Creamsicle, Lime Rickey, Catawba Flip)

Additionally, items like waffles that were previously listed as all-day breakfast items are now only being served in the mornings.

An Evolving Menu

Not all of these changes are permanent. Chef Greenspan confirmed that the soft serve ice cream will return later this week, once the supplier farm can meet the increased demand. The biscuits and red gravy are also expected to return as a special sooner rather than later.

Greenspan also emphasized that the menu would be forever evolving and that customers can expect easter eggs and specials to be added here and there in the future. Remember that the diner serves locally harvested food, which means that consumers should expect the menu to change with the seasons and availability of the sustainable food that’s grown within the driving range of a Tesla.

Don’t Miss the Easter Egg

In classic Tesla fashion, the Diner itself is a fantastic design Easter egg. The physical footprint of the Diner building is shaped like a Tesla Supercharger icon - the same one that appears in your vehicle’s navigation maps.

Tesla really flexes their vertical integration and software chops with the opening of this diner. If you haven’t already checked out our article on the integration between the diner, Tesla vehicles, and the Tesla app, be sure to take a peek at the seamless and magical experience Tesla has made.
