Tesla’s surprise Model Y L has now been transported to showrooms in China, and photos are starting to circulate about Tesla’s latest model.

While we already knew a lot about this model and some of its features, we now have our best look at the interior, thanks to a new official video Tesla posted on Weibo this morning.

Front Seats

A leaked photo shows off the new front seats with what looks like an adjustable headrest and larger side bolsters. There’s a rumor that the vehicle includes a larger front screen, but it’s hard to say whether that’s the case in this photo.

Foldable Second Row & Third Rows

The short video shows off several new features and confirms the foldable, second-row captain chairs, which drastically increase the cargo room of the vehicle. In the video, we can see the seats from the back and side, which look similar to the ones available on the Model X. However, the back folds down, allowing owners to either create a bed or transport large items in the back of the vehicle.

We can also see armrests with a cup holder in the third row and a button on the side. This button looks similar to the one in the trunk that lowers the powered rear seats, suggesting it will fold the second-row seats.

Tesla is really adding a lot to this model, positioning it between the Model Y and the Model X. However, in some aspects, it appears even to be surpassing the more expensive X. There’s a rumor that the second-row seats are also ventilated in addition to being heated — a feature that’s not available on the Model X.

Powered Armrest

In the video, we can also see a powered armrest that extends out from the middle of the seats. It’s not clear whether there’s one for each seat, but given the aisle between both seats, that’s very likely.

Rear Vents

While the second and rear seats are being folded down in the video, we also get a glimpse at the rear vents of the vehicle. In addition to the vent below the rear screen, the Model Y L also has vertical air vents in the B and C-pillars of the vehicle, very similar to the Model X. This is going to make the third row of the vehicle much more comfortable than Tesla’s previous 7-seat Model Y, which had no ventilation in the back.

Black Headliner

We can also confirm that this Model Y variant also has a black headliner, which is another differentiating feature that’s regularly found on performance vehicles or the Model S and X. It adds a nice premium touch to the vehicle. However, we’d guess that it’s not the Alcantara fabric found in Tesla’s more premium models.

Rear Spoiler

We also get a nice look at the Model Y L’s new spoiler. The larger spoiler wraps around slightly to the side of the vehicle until the liftgate opening.

Worldwide Release

While the Model Y L was initially expected to become available only in China, it’s now expected to launch worldwide. This variant was found being tested in Nürburgring, Germany, which means that a European and presumably a North American launch isn’t too far behind.
