Tesla has introduced a monthly wheel and tire protection option that you can manage entirely through the app. The plan is the same one that we saw introduced with the new Luxe Package, which is exclusive to the Model S and Model X.
Availability
The plan covers tire and wheel repairs caused by road debris or hazards. Surprisingly, it’s not limited to new vehicles and existing owners can subscribe to the plan if they purchase tires from Tesla or have purchased them in the last 30 days.
Tesla rolled this out in the U.S., and owners can activate it via the Tesla app under Upgrades > Service Plans > Wheel and Tire Protection.
Once enrolled, coverage begins immediately and continues month to month.
What It Includes
Tesla includes unlimited tire repairs due to road debris or hazards at a Tesla Service Center; however, replacing a tire or wheel will come with a $25 deductible.
There are several things that the plan does not cover, including theft, vandalism, and cosmetic damage, which, unfortunately, includes the dreaded curb rash. Tesla will also not repair tires that have less than a 4/32” tread.
Cost
The cost of the monthly plan varies by vehicle model and trim, with Performance/Plaid variants being the most expensive. The plan starts as low as $12/month for the Model 3 and goes all the way up to $25/month for the Model S and Model X Plaid. This comes out to $144 to $300 annually, but breaking the plan down into monthly payments makes it seem more affordable.
If you find yourself getting flat tires fairly often or want the peace of mind a predictable subscription brings you, this could be a great addition.

While Tesla previously offered a yearly tire and wheel protection plan, it was exclusive to California residents. The cost was similar to this plan; however, it was priced per tire. The plan for a Model 3 at the time cost $35 per tire, per year, or $140/year.
Tesla has added various plans recently, with the most recent one before this one being the windshield protection plan that covers your vehicle’s windshield for as low as $12/month, but going up from there based on the model. It also didn’t include the Cybertruck, which has the most costly windshield to repair at more than $2,300 USD.
