After months of spy shots and speculation, the wait is almost over. Tesla Europe has released a teaser post on X, hinting at a launch of the highly anticipated Model Y Performance on Friday, August 29th.
As if the video teaser wasn’t enough, some customers in the UK and Europe have received messages from Tesla Sales, which indicated that the Model Y Performance is about to go live on Tesla’s website in the near future.
With the official unveiling possibly just a day away, it’s time to consolidate everything we’ve learned from a year of prototypes, Nürburgring testing, and uncamouflaged sightings into a complete picture of what to expect from Tesla's newest performance model.
Aggressive New Styling
The most noticeable difference will be the updated styling of the Performance model’s exterior. Tesla’s Performance variants almost always have a much more aggressive and distinctive look compared to their RWD and AWD counterparts. This implies a likely redesigned front fascia with a more pronounced splitter and air intakes.
Alongside those changes to the front, we expect the rear of the vehicle to be given a similar performance-oriented treatment, including a sporty lower diffuser and (“spoiler alert”) a longer carbon fiber spoiler.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Performance without new wheels to match. The new alloys seen on the variant touring The Ring are likely going to impact range, but make up for it with reduced unsprung weight and improved performance.
All of this should give it some distinctive visual styling over the Long Range and RWD models, both of which were previously relatively easy to mistake for the Performance model if you ignore the spoiler and red line badging.
Interior Updates
Another expected (but still unconfirmed) upgrade might be found within the cabin. Shots from the track and on the streets have revealed a new sports seats design, which will likely be exclusive to the Performance Model Y. These more bolstered seats are specifically designed to provide additional body support during high-performance driving.

Improved Dynamics
Tesla’s extensive testing of the new model at Germany’s Nürburgring strongly suggests that upcoming upgrades are going to be much more than just cosmetic, as this race track is the ultimate proving ground.
While we won’t know the final Model Y Performance specs until the official reveal, Tesla did include adaptive dampening on the Model 3 Performance, which we expect will also appear on the redesigned Y Performance counterpart. This retuned suspension would focus on sharper handling and body control and likely be complemented by new brakes to handle the increased power.
The goal of Tesla’s Performance models isn’t just higher speeds off the starting line, but vehicles that are truly fun to drive and can overcome the world’s most challenging tracks.
