The launch of a new vehicle is often more than just the vehicle itself; it’s about creating a complete and thoughtful ownership experience.
With the launch of the Model Y L in China, Australia, and New Zealand, Tesla introduced several new accessories that are unique to the larger vehicle. These accessories will likely be launched in North America in the coming weeks, so if you have an order in for Tesla’s newest vehicle, keep an eye out for these, as some of them are sure to sell out quickly.
These accessories include an air mattress, sunshades, privacy curtains for the side windows, trunk storage bins, and all-weather mats. However, many of the Model Y accessories also fit the Model Y L, including popular accessories such as the frunk ambient lighting kit, trunk dividers, and door projector lights.
Sunshades
Tesla offers two sunshades, including one for the glass roof and another one for the rear glass of the vehicle. Expect them to cost about $99 and $55 USD, respectively.
Privacy Curtains
In addition to the sunshades, Tesla is also offering privacy shades for the side windows, which should be about $70 USD. With young kids in the back, or for those who want some added privacy, these offer a good solution.
All-weather Mats
For all-weather floor mats, Tesla also offers a good variety of solutions, including rubber mats for the front seats, middle row, third row, trunk, sub-trunk, and even the rear seat backs. The mats will likely range from about $60 for the sub-trunk liner to $170 for the front/middle/rear seat mats. The trunk and third-row seat back liners are expected to be about $150 USD.
While we’re not huge fans of all-weather floor mats as they add a bit of bulk, they’re a popular and durable item that helps your vehicle looking new.
Air Mattress
One of Tesla’s most popular accessories is the air mattress, tailored to fit your vehicle perfectly. They go around every nook and cranny of your vehicle and really make for ideal sleeping conditions when camping in your vehicle.
For the Model Y L especially, with its roomier interior, folding captain chairs, additional air vents, and the exposed cup holders in the third row, this really makes a great addition.
The Tesla air mattress is expected to cost about $200 USD when converted from Australian dollars and includes a storage bag and an air pump.
Door Sills
To go along with the rubber mats, Tesla also sells rear door sill guards, which should come in at about $40. These are custom made to fit around the door sill, and vehicle eats.
China Exclusive Accessories for Now
In China, Tesla offers a few additional accessories that aren’t available in Australia, but could eventually make their way there or over to North America. The list includes a trunk storage shelf, a roof rack, and a car cover.
Other Accessories Compatible With Model Y L
Since the Model Y L is built on the Model Y, most of the accessories from the Model Y also fit in the Model Y L. This includes accessories such as the trunk cargo dividers, lumbar pillows, console trays, projector lights, and the power adapter for vehicle-to-load capability.
When to Expect Them
Tesla is probably getting ready to launch these accessories in North America as we speak. With the first customer deliveries happening soon, it shouldn’t be long before these products become available through Tesla’s website or through Tesla’s app.
If you’re interested in the air mattress or V2L power adapter, those are typically popular products and sell out quickly.
