Tesla is constructing a new, public-facing Customer Delivery Center at its Giga Texas facility. The project, confirmed by building permits and detailed site plans, will allow new buyers to take delivery of their vehicles directly from the factory where they were built, creating a unique delivery experience that many Tesla fans have long wished for.
This investment will transform part of Giga Texas from a pure manufacturing hub into a customer-facing landmark, offering a new way for owners to begin or continue their journey with Tesla.
New Delivery Center
The project comprises several components that are currently under construction. The largest is the Customer Delivery Center, which will be a new dedicated building that is being added to the north end at the End-of-Line (EOL) facility. Building permits, filed in August, confirm that the building is intended for direct delivery to customers.
Essentially, this will be a public-facing sales center where customers can complete all the necessary paperwork to take final possession of their new vehicle, right on site.
New Welcome Center
The original plans for a large Welcome Center near Tesla Road have been changed. Now, a large Welcome Center will be constructed just north of the EOL and delivery facility, essentially creating a gallery for visitors and new owners to learn about Tesla and its offerings.
To make the new areas accessible, Tesla is adding a new road that will connect Tesla Road and River Road to allow customers to get to the new facilities.
Three Delivery Methods
This new facility offers customers another great option for taking delivery of their new vehicle. The fact that it’s located right where the vehicle was built makes it even more exciting, and hopefully, Tesla has other tie-ins as well.
While small-scale direct deliveries have been happening for a few months, this new center will formalize the process and provide customers in the area with three options for delivery.
The first will be the destination experience at Giga Texas, helped along by the new delivery center. A trip to see Giga Texas, potentially take a tour, and get your new car will be a whole experience.
The second is receiving your car at any of Tesla’s Service Centers in and around Texas, which is the standard experience right now.
Finally, in the near future, autonomous vehicle deliveries will be available. Having already pulled it off once, Tesla should be able to make it a common occurrence around Austin.
Customers will eventually be able to opt in to have their new vehicle drive itself from the factory directly to their own home. However, the fact that Tesla is building this new delivery experience at Giga Texas tells us that they don’t expect autonomous deliveries to be the norm around Texas any time soon.

Tunnel Vision: Boring Company
Adding another layer of futuristic logistics to the project, Tesla is looking to build a second Boring Company tunnel at Giga Texas. This one would be used for the movement of new Model Ys from the main assembly line, directly to the new End-of-Line and delivery facility on the west side of the property.
While still in the discussion phase, a dedicated vehicle tunnel isn’t new, as the Cybertruck already has its own. It is, however, a Tesla-level solution to logistics. Take the shortest route with the fewest obstacles.
This entire project, from the Delivery and Welcome Center to the future tunnel and autonomous delivery, is another investment Tesla is making in the future. While we hear a lot about Optimus and the future of Tesla, there’s no doubt that vehicles will still be its core business for many years.
