Tesla is now offering recent buyers of its flagship Model S and Model X vehicles the ability to add on the valuable Luxe Package for a one-time fee of $2,000. This offer is being extended to customers who purchased their Model S or Model X recently with FSD outright, but before Tesla made the Luxe Package mandatory.

This provides those buyers a chance to add on the exclusive perks of the Luxe Package at a discounted rate, given that they’ve already paid $8,000 for FSD.

What’s Included?

The Luxe Package comes bundled together with three of Tesla’s most valuable services and connectivity offerings. For the $2,000 add-on price, eligible owners will receive the following:

Lifetime Free Supercharging is offered as the first perk, and is one of Tesla’s most valuable and popular perks for its vehicles. You’ll be able to Supercharge your vehicle whenever and wherever, for free, for the life of the vehicle. While this isn’t a transferable benefit, it is still a fantastic choice for anyone who makes even a single road trip per year.

Lifetime Premium Connectivity is the second perk of the Luxe Package. As usual, it provides access to Tesla’s most data-intensive features in your vehicle, covering anything from video and music streaming to satellite-view maps (everything included with Premium Connectivity), all without having to pay monthly. This benefit is also limited to the original owner of the vehicle and is not transferable to future owners.

4-Year Protection Plan is included for your wheels, tires and windshield. The protection plan for the windshield alone can cost someone $12-$23 per month, depending on the vehicle. It includes one free replacement every 12 months with no deductible. The tire and wheel protection plan is similar and protects your vehicle’s wheels and tires from most issues, but does not include theft, vandalism, or curb rash.

4-Years Free Maintenance is the last benefit, which Tesla typically includes in the same category as the one above. It includes free vehicle maintenance for the first four years. This is different than the vehicle’s standard warranty, which is 4 years or 50,000 miles.

This service includes regular vehicle maintenance, which includes replacing the following:

  • Cabin filter replacement (about $65- $73)

  • HEPA filter replacement (about $240)

  • Tire rotations and alignment (normally costs about $65)

  • Front camera cleaning (normally costs about $50-$90)

  • Wiper blade replacement (depends on vehicle, varies from about $60-$83)

The price of these services can vary depending on region and vehicle. Interested buyers can check their app for under Upgrades > Software Upgrades and looking under the Buy tab.

Small Cost, Big Value

While the $2,000 price may seem substantial upfront, a breakdown of the individual components reveals that this offer represents an exceptionally good value for long-term owners.

The Lifetime Premium Connectivity alone is a significant saving. Across just a four-year ownership period, that alone comes to $396 before tax (comparing it to Tesla’s $99 annual plan). Across a longer ownership period of 10 years, that’s almost $1,200.

The 4 years of Premium Service is another massive value. The standalone wheel and tire protection costs $20 (or $25 on a Plaid) per month, and the windshield protection costs $15 on the Model S and $23 on the Model X.

Averaging that out to $40 a month, that’s $1,920 over four years. If you have a single windshield incident, the Luxe package can pay for itself. If you have two flat tires over a four-year period, that could have similar savings. The Premium Service protection plan is a great option for anyone looking to take care of their vehicle and who normally likes to take advantage of protection plans.

Finally, Lifetime Supercharging is another big perk, especially if you drive often. While the value of this one changes from buyer to buyer based on usage, most owners spend somewhere between $100-$300 a year on Supercharging. That alone would make this perk worth $400-1,200 in that same four-year period. However, keep in mind that this one spans the lifetime of your vehicle ownership. The longer you own the vehicle, the more you’ll save.

If you combine everything together, the total value of the Luxe Package is many times the $2,000 asking price, making it one of the best value-for-money offers Tesla has extended to its customers. Eligible owners will receive a notification and message in their Tesla App. We expect this offer to be extended to Cybertruck owners and potentially even more owners in the future.
