Tesla has voluntarily recalled 6,197 Cybertrucks equipped with the Foundation-Series Cyberbeast exclusive Off-Road Lightbar accessory. The issue stems from an incorrect primer applied during service installation, which can cause the lightbar to delaminate and detach while driving—a potential road hazard.
No crashes, injuries, or deaths have been reported, and Tesla will be working to remedy all impacted vehicles free of charge, starting in December 2025.
Who’s Impacted?
All owners of the Off-Road Lightbar are impacted - the recall primarily impacts the 6,196 Foundation-Series Cyberbeasts that were produced and have had their Lightbar installed to date.
However, for owners who have purchased or acquired Lightbars from Cyberbeast owners, your vehicle will be included under the recall, but you’ll need to reach out to your local Service Center that conducted your install.
Root Cause
During the installation, some service centers mistakenly used BetaSeal primer instead of the specified BetaPrime. Chemical compatibility testing in October 2025 by Tesla Engineering confirmed that the error reduces adhesion strength, leading to progressive delamination under thermal cycling and vibration.
In early 2025, shortly after installations began, Tesla first began receiving field reports of delaminating or loose lightbars. In May of 2025, they updated the Service Manual to include a procedure specifying which primer had to be used.
Finally, following more than 619 warranty claims (10% of the Lightbars on trucks right now), Tesla decided perform a full recall.
The Fix: Two Remedies
Tesla Service will inspect every light bar and apply one of two solutions.
If the lightbar is loose or delaminating, it will be removed, the surfaces cleaned, and new primer applied. In addition, Tesla will apply 3M Very-High Bond (VHB) tape and reinstall with an additional structural bracket.
If the lightbar is secure, only the structural bracket will be installed. The structural bracket will mount to the cantrail mounts and help to hold the lightbar down.
What Owners Should Do Now
Examine your lightbar. If you see it delaminating and lifting at the edges, immediately contact Tesla Service. Otherwise, if your lightbar is solidly affixed, you’ll need to wait for the structural bracket to become available.
The bracket should be available in mid-to-late December, and at that point, you’ll be able to request the installation of the structural bracket.
