Imagine pulling up to a crowded location, and instead of circling around for parking, your vehicle smoothly pulls up to the curb to let you out. What we’re seeing in FSD V14.1 is the very beginning of Tesla’s Banish feature, which drops you off and lets the vehicle park itself.
However, one feature in FSD V14 that many haven’t noticed is that FSD’s routing is actually dependent on your parking option at your destination.
From Driveway to Destination
FSD V14.1’s Parking at Destination option lets drivers specify how the vehicle should conclude the trip: Street Parking, Parking Lots, Driveways, Parking Garages, Curbside Parking, or charging, with options varying by destination.
This new feature is as practical as it is revolutionary, and lets your vehicle handle the final few hundred feet of the trip. This entire process begins right when you depart, proactively. Once you specify the destination ending type, your route planner will automatically adjust to accommodate your selection.
Navigation routing is now even more a part of FSD than ever before, as it enables real-time route management for destination options. In practice, this means your parking type influences the path from the start of your trip.
Similar to how walking directions differ from driving directions, FSD now considers the path to take based on your parking option. Choose curb-side drop off? Then FSD will take the quickest path to the location’s entrance, whereas if you choose a parking garage, it’ll pick the quickest route to the garage.

One user noted a route to a busy hotel that conducted a flawless drop-off when Curbside was selected, guiding to a designated zone with zero post-arrival adjustments. It's a stark contrast to prior versions, where the vehicle’s navigation system led you to the door, leaving you and Autopilot to figure out how and where to park once you got there. This often led you to either disabling Autopilot early, or circling back to the parking lot.

In practice, this routing synergy reduces interventions, which is the holy grail for unsupervised aspirations. By planning parking from the start, FSD minimizes last-minute scrambles, such as finding a drop-off point once it arrives at a busy destination. Somehow, Tesla is planning and saving parking and drop-off areas in advance. Tesla is either basing drop-off and parking points on map data or leveraging data based on previous drives — likely from the entire fleet.
FSD is truly getting to the point where some aspects are much better than a human’s. Most drivers won’t take the time to plan their drop-off or parking ahead of time and instead will figure it out when they arrive. FSD can now plan this from the very beginning of your journey, and soon it’ll likely take even more into account, such as which parking garages are open, how far you’ll have to walk, and more.
