Tesla China has launched a new, more compact Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter for the Model Y L and the upcoming Model Y Performance, offering a second, more convenient form factor compared to the Powershare Mobile Adapter. The Model Y L and the Model Y Performance are the first Teslas besides the Cybertruck to feature V2L Powershare.

2200W Output
The adapter provides a peak output of 2200W (220V at 10A) and features a single port that includes both the Type A and Type I sockets, both of which are standard in China.
Tesla highlights the utility of the adapter by showing it simultaneously powering a basic outdoor kitchen, including:
600W for a portable rice cooker
600W for a portable electric kettle
1000W for a portable Hot Pot
That’s a fairly compelling amount of output, especially given the high total wattage. That means the new compact Powershare Adapter can be used for anything from camping to powering a few key items at home in the event of a power outage.
Comparison to the Outlet Adapter
This adapter is much more attractive and slimmer than the current outlet adapter Tesla offers (above), which plugs into the mobile charger. That one has users managing a long cord, and the Mobile Connector “brick.” The new Chinese version is likely what most users want, a slim package that allows you to simply plug an appliance or device into.
Tesla advertises the North American Outlet Adapter as capable of 10 amps at 120v, while the Chinese version uses 10 amps at 220v. The total output remains the same, but China, like most countries, has standardized on 220V instead of 110V.
Adapter Availability
This new V2L adapter will be available in the next few weeks at the Tesla China Shop, and it will also be included with new purchases of the Model Y L and the Model Y Performance in the near future. For owners who have recently taken delivery of the Model Y L in China, Tesla will be offering the adapter for pickup, for free, from a local Tesla Service Center.
Given the quick rollout of this new, more compact adapter, it seems likely that Tesla will offer a similar adapter for Model Y Performance owners in North America and Europe, outfitted with the appropriate vehicle connector and corresponding regional sockets.
Tesla usually rolls out Shop products like this in China first, then rolls them out to North America and Europe in the following months. Customers can likely expect to get their hands on this adapter sometime in the early new year, given that previous releases like the Caraoke Mic have taken about 3-4 months to reach other markets.
