Tesla has launched a new Ride-Along program in Europe, inviting the public to experience Full Self Driving (Supervised) from the passenger seat in Italy, Germany, and France.
According to a new event page and announcement, prospective buyers and enthusiasts in Italy, Germany, and France can now book a slot to experience FSD in real-world conditions in their home countries. Unlike standard test drives, where the customer takes the wheel, these sessions are strictly passenger seat experiences, with a trained Tesla employee managing the vehicle.
Tesla’s goal is to demonstrate to customers how FSD handles real-world traffic and the most stressful parts of daily driving. This lets participants witness FSD navigate complex European infrastructure, whether it be roundabouts or narrow urban streets, before the software is legally cleared for consumer deployment.
For many, this will be the first time they’re experiencing Tesla’s FSD, making it an exciting opportunity not only for prospective buyers but also for existing Tesla owners. The three nations mentioned in the initial announcement are just the first, with more to follow soon.

The Passenger Experience
The format of these events is very specific, likely to comply with Tesla’s legal obligations regarding testing autonomous vehicles. By placing the participant in the passenger seat, Tesla is curating a chauffeured experience. This allows the customer to focus entirely on the visualization and decision-making process of the car, without the pressure or liability of learning how FSD works themselves.
It also serves as a live demonstration of FSD’s capabilities to adapt to local driving cultures, showing that handling that infamous Paris roundabout is just as easy as a highway.

Why Now?
While this might appear to be a marketing move, the timing suggests there’s a bit more nuance to it than that. With the Dutch vehicle authority RDW targeting February 2026 for the potential approval of FSD, Tesla is racing to normalize autonomy in the eyes of the European public.
By launching this new initiative, Tesla is aiming to build a basis of societal support. If thousands of Europeans experience a flawless, stress-free autonomous drive, it counters the skepticism often seen in traditional media and helps put more pressure on the EU to approve FSD.
It’s another example of Tesla’s classic strategy of putting butts in seats.
