While the 2025 Tesla Holiday Update is packed with utility, it wouldn’t be a true Tesla release without something purely for fun. Enter Tesla Photobooth - a new Toybox app that transforms your cabin into a creative photo studio.
While this feature may look gimmicky, it’s actually well-executed and can be a fun experience. Whether you’re killing time at a Supercharger or capturing a road trip memory with the crew, this feature lets you capture fun moments and edit them with props just like at a real photo booth.
How it Works
Located in the Toybox, the new Photobooth app is designed for quick, social-ready snaps.
Tap the shutter button to trigger a 3-second countdown, giving everyone enough time to lean in and get into the right pose.
But before you snap, you can also select from a carousel of filters and borders at the bottom of the screen to set the mood. They range from vintage looks, Instagram classics, nods to Optimus and Cybertruck, xAI tie-ins, and even just simple blurs and pixelations.
Once the photo is taken, filter or not, that’s where the real fun begins. Just like a real photo booth, you can overlay items, such as emojis or stickers, or even doodle with the fairly robust set of drawing tools available.
The “props” move smoothly on the screen, making them fun to play with. You can easily resize or rotate them with your fingers.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also create your own stickers on the fly. After taking a photo, select the “Custom Sticker” tool and draw a circle around an object in your photo. Whether it's your coffee cup or your dog, you can lift it out and save it for use as a sticker in future pictures.

The App Connection: Save & Share
The experience doesn’t end on the center screen. Tesla has built a seamless bridge to your phone for this feature. You’ll need a recent version of the Tesla App (v4.51.5 or higher).
After a Photobooth session, you’ll see a “Recent Photos” pop-up, similar to the pop-up that shows when you have recent, unviewed Sentry Mode or Dashcam videos. It slides in right under the quick controls, and swiping right dismisses the pop-up.
If you want to view your old sessions, go to the new Photobooth section near the bottom of the home screen to access older images.
Once you’re in the gallery of recent photos, you can tap a photo, then either save it directly to your phone’s camera roll or use your device’s built-in Share functionality to send it to social media or to friends.

The feature is available on all AMD Ryzen models with the holiday update. It's a small but whimsical addition, and one that highlights just how cleanly and tightly integrated the entire Tesla experience is.
