Following sightings of the Cybercab and Unsupervised Robotaxis in Austin, and with new cleaning policies, Tesla is really pushing to make its service more mainstream.

Now, with the launch of an updated Robotaxi website with a new Get Started guide and support section, it seems like everything is starting to come together. The new pages provide additional details on how the service will operate for riders in Austin, including operating hours and what to expect in the in-car experience.

While the website doesn’t mention the Bay Area, Tesla’s supervised Robotaxi service continues to operate there.

Getting Started

While the Cybercab is the purpose-built vehicle for the future, Tesla is forging ahead with the Model Y robotaxi for now. The new site states that autonomous Robotaxi rides are being offered in Austin, Texas, with the Model Y today.

Prospective riders are directed to download the Robotaxi app to get started, or sign up for updates to be notified when the service launches in their own local area.

Accessibility

A major focus of the new site is inclusivity. Tesla states that they are building an autonomous future accessible to all people. Future vehicles will be designed to support various accessibility needs, including service animals and mobility devices.

Dedicated support for these two groups of riders isn’t here quite yet, with Elon Musk previously stating that the Robovan would be the workhorse Robotaxi to support accessibility. There is support for some wheelchairs and assistive devices, as well as for service animals already baked into the currently available fleet in Austin.

Global Rollout

Hinting at the scale of the project for next year, the website also notes that the Robotaxi app is available in 29 languages, with more being added as time goes on to support future expansions.
