For Tesla owners across Europe, the on-screen visualization of the physical world on their center displays just became more localized with software update 2026.14.
Vehicle owners have noticed the flat-fronted European-style semi-trucks on the screen. It looks like this new truck visualization is in addition to the North American-style semi-truck visualization, and the vehicle should be able to detect and display both kinds of trucks.
This new visualization does not require FSD, allowing all users to see the new visualization.
Trusting in the Viz
The visualizations on the center display are the primary communication bridge between the vehicle's "brain" and the human operator.
For a driver to comfortably and safely monitor an advanced driver assistance system, they must implicitly trust that the vehicle accurately perceives its immediate physical surroundings. When a European driver looks out the windshield and sees a cab-over heavy transport vehicle, seeing that exact localized profile mirrored perfectly on the screen reinforces trust in the car's perception capabilities.
The Delayed Release
This European semi-truck has actually been included in the vehicle’s software for a while, but it appears to have been enabled only in the latest Spring Update.
The 3D model for the European semi-truck was incorporated into the vehicle software back in October, alongside a large batch of approximately 15 new visual assets, though not all are active.
Users have also recently seen horses and golf carts, suggesting that Tesla is slowly enabling these new visualizations.
Waiting on the Neural Net
Pushing a 3D model to a vehicle is simple, but activating it on the user interface requires bridging the gap between design and AI. Tesla is slowly enabling these dormant visualizations only when the vehicle can accurately recognize these objects with a specific confidence threshold.
When Tesla initially enabled the golf cart visualization, we saw people report various objects being rendered as golf carts, including SMART cars and other small vehicles. Tesla is likely continuing to collect data and will enable additional visualization in the coming months.
