Tesla owners with Android phones are finally getting feature parity with iPhone users when it comes to keeping tabs on their Supercharging sessions. The Tesla app for Android now supports interactive, real-time notifications on the lock screen and in the notification area. This means you will no longer have to wake up your phone, unlock it, and open the Tesla app just to see how much you’ve charged.
@samsonusmc highlighted the rollout on X, sharing an image of the new notifications in action. We previously found the backend code for these real-time, dynamic Android notifications in version 4.58.0 of the mobile app earlier this month, and the system is now officially going live for the public.
Parity With iOS Live Activities
If you have used an iPhone, you’re probably already familiar with how these notifications work. Tesla originally introduced real-time charging alerts with support for iOS Live Activities back in May 2025. Live Activities allow Apple users to keep track of food deliveries, ride-hailing, and EV charging with specialized notifications that live in convenient places and seamlessly update every few seconds.
Android introduced its version of the feature, called Live Updates, with the launch of Android 16 last year. Now, the Tesla app for Android finally supports it. The notification block, available on the lock screen and in the notification area, features your custom vehicle avatar alongside a charging progress bar. It tracks your current state of charge percentage, an estimated cost for your charging session, and how much time until you hit your charge limit, all in real time. It also displays a text countdown detailing how much longer you need to wait before you have enough range to continue on your planned route.
Expanding Across the Ecosystem
This is not the only feature due to hit Tesla's mobile app. We also found evidence of Tesla working on home heat pump integration for its mobile ecosystem in another recent build, version 4.57.5. There’s no word yet on when that climate management system will arrive, though.
More importantly, we expect Tesla’s new Live Updates on Android to be available for more than just charging. Tesla launched its dedicated Robotaxi app on Android earlier this spring, and with iPhone users already having Live Activities for their autonomous ride-hailing trips, Android users should get Live Updates for Robotaxi rides as well.
