Following a challenging Q1 in which Tesla deliveries were just shy of analyst estimates, the narrative around Tesla’s market position leaned towards operational headwinds tied to EV adoption. However, the release of the company’s Q2 production and delivery report has shattered those expectations.
Tesla has officially reported a blowout second quarter for 2026, delivering 480,126 vehicles globally and marking a return to year-over-year growth. Tesla smashed Wall Street’s consensus.
These results represent the fourth-best quarter in the company's history and are an indicator that Tesla’s demand levers and refreshed vehicles have been successfully resonating in a more competitive market.
Production & Deliveries At a Glance
In the weeks leading up to the report, market analysts had compiled a conservative delivery consensus of 406,024 vehicles, with even the most bullish financial institutions capping their estimates around the 420,000 mark. Tesla's final delivery figure of 480,126 vehicles surpassed the baseline consensus by 74,000 units.
When compared to last year’s Q2, that’s a 25% year-over-year increase, and most importantly, it breaks the two-year streak of annual sales declines. The quarter-over-quarter recovery is equally impressive, reflecting a 34% jump from the 358,023 vehicles delivered in the first quarter of 2026.
