Tesla's effort to bring its latest self-driving software to older hardware is officially going global. Owners of older vehicles have been waiting a long time for a taste of the latest Full Self-Driving capabilities, and a surprise international rollout is finally underway.
As announced on X by the official @tesla_korea account, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14 Lite is making its first stop outside of the United States. This marks a massive milestone for owners of older vehicles who were worried about being left behind.
South Korea Leads the Global Rollout
South Korea has officially become the first international market to receive the new update. This is a pretty unique move, considering Canada usually gets software features right after the U.S. This time around, Canadian owners are still waiting, making South Korea the true launchpad for FSD v14 Lite’s international push. South Korea was also the first country outside of North America to get the main FSD v14 branch last year, but that was after it had already rolled out in Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
The initial release in Korea is limited to early access testers with U.S.-built Model 3/Y vehicles running older Hardware 3 (HW3/AI3) computers. While this first wave is small, the official @Tesla_AI account followed up online to confirm that FSD v14 Lite will roll out more broadly "to all eligible AI3 owners in Korea" following further validation.
A Huge Engineering Feat for AI3
This update is the first FSD build released for AI3 vehicles in about 14 months. It is essentially a distilled version of the main v14 build running on newer AI4 cars. FSD v14 Lite launched for U.S. testers less than two weeks ago, and getting it to work on older hardware is a major achievement. Elon Musk previously noted that AI3 computers only have 15% of the memory bandwidth of AI4, making this optimization a serious engineering challenge.

Tesla confirmed a while ago that an international FSD v14 Lite release was in the plans. There is a strong chance it eventually hits every country where the main v14 branch is approved or active. Right now, that list includes:

Where Does the Update Head Next?
While we can make guesses as to where FSD v14 Lite is headed next, Tesla has not given a firm timeline for other regions (or even said which ones are next in line). It's been nearly two weeks since FSD v14 Lite launched in the U.S., and it’s yet to become widely available. As such, it remains to be seen how long Tesla’s “further validation” will take in South Korea, let alone when the update could land in other markets.
European HW3 owners might face the longest wait. Local customers are currently organizing a collective action against Tesla for leaving them out of the original FSD rollout in the EU, where Tesla only applied for regulatory approval for AI4 cars. Going through the entire approval process for older cars means a European release could be a while away.
