Tesla Starts Rolling Out New Version of FSD v14 Lite With New Features

Tesla is restarting its FSD v14 Lite rollout for HW3 vehicles with an updated build that brings a wave of features from the main v14 branch. The update, arriving with software version 2026.20.6.10, introduces a more polished version of FSD v14 Lite that’s much closer to parity with the flagship v14 build.

While the software is still officially called FSD v14 Lite, the fresh build includes some new features. The original FSD v14 Lite release late last month didn’t have a specific version number besides being called “v14,” giving many the impression that Tesla wouldn’t push incremental updates in the same way it does for the main branch. However, it’s getting at least one major update, though.

FSD v14 Lite is a smaller, distilled version of the consumer FSD v14 build (which, as it turns out, is itself a distilled model of the software developed for the Cybercab). It’s designed to bring the same FSD features available on HW4 to older vehicles, bridging the gap until Tesla can offer hardware upgrades to really bring HW3 up to speed for the next generation of autonomy. The initial build rolled out to a small group of early access users in the U.S. and then stopped. This release restarts the v14 Lite rollout sequence, opening up hope for a much wider public release and making the Lite branch look and act much more like its bigger sibling.

Brake Confirmation is Now Optional

One of the biggest changes in this build is that brake confirmation to start FSD from park is now optional, matching the behavior found on the main v14 branch. Previously, owners had to press the brake pedal to activate FSD. With this update, drivers can turn that setting off entirely. Once disabled, you can engage FSD by simply tapping the “Start Self-Driving” button right on the touchscreen.

Destination Parking Options and UI Changes

The driving visualization and destination mechanics are getting a parity upgrade to match hardware 4 vehicles. When navigating, the system now displays the blue P park icon on the map, showing exactly where the software intends to pull over and park when you arrive at your destination.

As you near the end of your route, an “approaching destination” message now pops up on the screen, much like on FSD v14. You also get the full parking options at destination overlay while driving, allowing you to choose exactly where you want the vehicle to park itself.

FSD Streaks

Tesla is also bringing its new autonomy gamification features to older vehicles. FSD now tracks uninterrupted driving milestones, a feature that originally debuted last month on the main branch with version 14.3.4. The software celebrates these driving streaks with full-screen animations when you hit 100, 250, 500, 1,000, and 5,000 miles of uninterrupted navigation.

During the celebration, a glowing banner reading “X mi Streak Reached” appears right in the middle of the touchscreen while bright, multi-colored digital confetti is strewn about. Tesla community member @BLKMDL3, who was among the first wave of early access testers to get this new FSD v14 Lite build, shared on X that they already achieved a 100-mile streak on it, complete with a video of the celebration animation.

Self-Driving App

FSD v14 Lite now also includes the standalone Self-Driving app in the dock. The app first showed up for newer vehicles with the Spring 2026 software update back in April, and it serves as a hub for everything FSD. From the app, owners can watch tutorials and view detailed usage metrics.

Mobile App Improvements

Drivers can now check their vehicle’s FSD status directly from their smartphone, even if they have an older HW3 Tesla. While the Tesla mobile app has shown a 3D model of a moving vehicle when the car is actively driving for a while, it now also renders the signature blue FSD path extending forward from the car whenever the system is active, accompanied by a “Self-Driving” status label. This feature only hit the main FSD v14 software branch earlier this month, so it’s a quick turnaround for Hardware 3 owners. The new FSD visualization in the mobile app even supports the Rainbow Road easter egg.

Rollout Expectations

The appearance of this updated build suggests that Tesla is refining its distilled software for older fleet vehicles before rolling it out further. While this new version of FSD v14 Lite is still only hitting early access testers in the U.S., it will hopefully pave the way for a wider public release soon. The initial v14 Lite branch already expanded internationally to South Korea earlier this month, though there is no definitive word yet on when this new update will head to global markets.

Update: Tesla VP of AI has now stated that this version of FSD v14 Lite will likely be the version that goes into wide release.
