Tesla’s mid-year software drop is officially rolling out to customer vehicles around the world. Available to download as software update 2026.26, this release packs a big bundle of new features, visual overhauls, and usability fixes.
It’s a pretty quick follow-up to Tesla’s original Summer Update announcement from last week. However, because Tesla’s global fleet spans multiple models, refreshes, hardware generations, and geographical markets, availability varies across the fleet. To make sense of who’s getting what features and fixes, here’s a detailed breakdown explaining exactly what each model and hardware configuration receives in update 2026.26.
Preferred Routes
Tesla’s navigation system can now prioritize the specific driving paths and daily routes you’ve taken before, adapting trip planning to your habits whether driving manually or using Full Self-Driving.
Availability: Available on both older Intel-based vehicles and newer AMD-powered builds. However, initial deployment appears exclusive to the U.S.
Auto Navigation Improvements
Automatic navigation expands beyond basic routines like Home, Work, and calendar events. The trip planner can now automatically load directions to frequently visited places like your gym or school drop-offs as soon as you sit in the car.
Availability: Rolling out across most global regions for both Intel and AMD infotainment hardware.
Grok Vehicle Commands
The SpaceXAI-made assistant now directly controls vehicle functions. Owners can place phone calls, search for and play music, adjust cabin climate settings, and navigate the Settings menu simply by talking to the chatbot. The update also expands Grok access across Europe and new Asian markets while enabling the “Hey Grok” wake word in more regions.
Availability: Limited exclusively to vehicles equipped with AMD Ryzen processors in North America, Europe, and supported Asian markets.
Web Browser Video Calling
Tesla’s native web browser now has hardware access permissions for the interior cabin camera and microphone, opening the door for video calls. This turns the center screen into a web conferencing display for any communication platforms that have a web interface, including services like Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Discord while parked.
Availability: Limited strictly to AMD Ryzen vehicles. Intel-powered models don’t support browser camera inputs.
Traction Control
Tesla has introduced new traction control options inside the Dynamics menu. Drivers can choose between Auto for standard driving, Slippery Surface for icy or wet roads, and Stuck Assist for grabby surfaces like mud, snow, or sand, with the mode automatically resetting to Auto on your next drive.
Availability: Exclusive to the 2024+ Model 3 in this release. The refreshed Model Y and Cybertruck already had these settings.
Caraoke With Live Scoring
Tesla’s in-car karaoke app receives a full redesign, making it more like a music rhythm game. The refreshed app now displays lyric timing bars and pitch indicators while also calculating a live score, note streak, and accuracy percentage saved to your profile.
Availability: Available in most global regions, but restricted strictly to AMD-powered vehicles.
Customize Driving Visualization Zoom
Drivers can now adjust their default camera zoom preferences for the Full Self-Driving visualization on screen. The desired camera scale can be configured by navigating to Controls, tapping Self-Driving, and selecting Visualization Camera Zoom.
Availability: Rolling out to Model S and Model X vehicles across all regional markets. With update 2026.26.1, we’re now seeing some Model 3s and Model Ys. The good news is that Intel vehicles are also receiving this feature.
Custom Wrap Uploads From Mobile
Tesla owners can now upload custom vehicle wraps as images directly from their phone through the Tesla mobile app to update their 3D digital car avatar. You no longer have to faff around with your vehicle’s USB drive just to apply a new skin to your car’s digital twin.
Availability: Supported globally across all Intel and AMD vehicles. Requires mobile app v4.59.0 or later.
Camera Preview
Drivers can now access the full camera preview interface at any time, eliminating the restriction that previously required the vehicle to be parked. Navigating to Controls, selecting Service, and tapping Camera Preview allows you to view individual camera angles or view all feeds simultaneously via a grid button while driving.
Availability: Available worldwide across both Intel and AMD hardware configurations.
Set Arrival Energy From Mobile
The Tesla mobile app now allows drivers to configure their target battery percentage upon reaching a destination. Entering a destination under the location tab lets you set custom arrival energy requirements before stepping inside the vehicle.
Availability: Available in most regions for Intel and AMD vehicles, requiring Tesla app v4.58.0 or newer.
Apple Music Queuing
Apple Music users can now queue up tracks directly from search results and artist catalog pages. Tapping and holding a track or selecting the three-dot menu allows you to play next, add to queue, save to library, or mark tracks as favorites.
Availability: Available across both Intel and AMD models, requiring an active Apple Music subscription and Premium Connectivity.
Supercharger Search by Site Name
Locating charging stops on the map gets a convenient usability fix. Drivers can now search for Supercharger locations directly by typing site titles, such as “Tesla Diner,” in addition to city or street address queries.
Availability: Available across all Tesla models and infotainment hardware globally.
New Welcome Animations
Opening the door on newer production vehicles now triggers an animated visual sequence. Entry-level and Premium (formerly Long Range) models display a “TESLA” wordmark glowing in the same color as their selected ambient lighting scheme, with the color transitioning from the screen into interior lighting strips.
Meanwhile, Performance models display a Ludicrous speed warp animation.
Availability: Exclusive to the 2024+ Model 3 and refreshed Model Y.
Turn Off Touch on Rear Display
Front seat passengers can lock the rear display entirely through the Rear app on the primary display. Especially useful if you have toddlers in the back, enabling display lock prevents rear passengers from messing with climate controls or changing media playback.
Availability: Standard across all Tesla vehicles equipped with a dedicated rear passenger touchscreen.
Improved Lighting for Unreal Engine
Tesla updated the 3D vehicle model rendering logic, which it switched over to Unreal Engine in software update 2026.14 earlier this year. By adjusting Unreal Engine lighting effects, vehicle paint shades and digital avatar reflections now render with greater color accuracy.
Availability: Exclusive to AMD Ryzen vehicles that run the Unreal Engine visualization pipeline.
