Tesla continues to evolve its vehicle lineup with fresh styling cues and unified lighting signatures across models. We most recently saw this with the updated Tesla Semi, which now features a light bar across the front.
Fans and designers are now looking at how the “Juniper” design language and styling tweaks could make their way to Tesla’s popular sedan.
A new render created by designer Justin Sackman and shared on X by @DennisCW_ gives us a glimpse at what a Model 3 refresh could look like.
Bringing the Juniper Aesthetic to the Model 3
The design concept reimagines the sedan by applying the sleek lighting setup from Tesla’s updated crossover. Up front, the concept replaces the current headlight housing with a continuous full-width light bar featuring slim adaptive daytime running lights running right along the edge of the hood. Below the light bar, a smoothed bumper intake refines front-end aerodynamics while giving the face a futuristic look.
Around back, the changes are even more dramatic. The render features a full-width rear light bar stretching across the trunk lid, matching the lighting signature seen on recent fleet updates like the new Model Y L. The side profile maintains the familiar proportions of the sedan while sitting on dark multi-spoke aero wheels.
The current “Highland” refresh of the Model 3 debuted in 2023, giving the sedan a sleeker front fascia and interior upgrades. While Highland is still relatively fresh, the Juniper Model Y update arrived in 2025 with light bars and updated bumpers, creating an opportunity to eventually align both mass-market vehicles under a unified design language.
While the current iteration ships with Tesla’s Hardware 4 (HW4/AI4) configuration, its successor could bring a new FSD/AI computer powered by Tesla’s next-generation AI4+ or AI5 chip. To power Tesla’s next era of autonomy, it could also include camera washers for the external cameras, like the Model Y robotaxi.
Earlier this year, Tesla marked a decade since the Model 3 unveil. The vehicle not only kickstarted Tesla’s foray into the mainstream but also revolutionized electric transit by bringing long range and premium software down to mass-market price points. Today, it remains Tesla’s most accessible product, starting at the equivalent of just $29,000 USD in some markets.
Owner Wishlist and Future Upgrades
If a future facelift ever makes it to production, Tesla could also take inspiration from its own history. Fans often wonder if a future update could revive early prototype touches that didn’t make it to production, like the ultra-clean white interior trim showcased during the original 2016 reveal.
On the hardware side, interior cabin tech continues to move forward even between major refreshes. That said, we’d like to see a future refresh finally introduce the upgraded actively cooled wireless phone chargers to prevent smartphones from overheating.
In addition, we’d love to see the Model Y L’s vehicle-to-load feature arrive on the Model 3, as well as Bioweapon Defense Mode, which is available in other models.
Performance fans also have plenty to hope for. While the current Model 3 Performance trim offers impressive acceleration, rumors persist that Tesla could push the platform even further. In fact, Tesla’s chief engineer previously teased a tri-motor Model 3 Plaid that could finally become a reality with an updated compact sedan platform.
While Tesla has not announced any official plans to update the sedan again just yet, concepts like Sackman’s show how the light bar styling could unify Tesla’s design language across the fleet.
