Tesla has added another storage accessory for the latest Model Y, this time taking advantage of the unused space below the front passenger seat. The new Model Y Underseat Storage Tray costs $40 and additional storage for smaller items under the driver or passenger seats.
Underseat Storage Tray
Tesla’s tray is made from injection-molded thermoplastic and slides underneath the front seat. Its non-slip design is intended to keep both the bin and the items inside it from moving around while driving.
The $40 package includes one storage bin. Tesla specifically says it does not recommend installing the tray beneath the driver’s seat, likely because items could get loose and interfere with the driver’s feet.
The accessory is only compatible with Model Y vehicles produced in the second half of 2025 or later, meaning it is designed for the newer Model Y rather than 2020-2024 vehicles. It is also not compatible with the six-seat Model Y L.
A Cheaper Two-Bin Alternative
Owners who want storage beneath both front seats also have great third-party choices. This Spigen Model Y underseat storage two-pack provides two bins for the same price as Tesla’s one-bin solution.
The Spigen version is designed specifically for 2025-2026 Model Y Premium and Performance vehicles. The listing says the bins use a waterproof TPE shell, include padding to reduce movement and rattling, and install without tools. Like Tesla’s tray, the Spigen version does not support the Model Y L.
Tesla Continues Adding Accessories
The new tray follows several other products Tesla has released recently. In June, Tesla launched a $245 expandable Model Y trunk organizer and $115 sub-trunk organizer, giving owners more ways to organize their cargo areas.
Tesla has also been expanding its camping lineup. Earlier this year, it introduced a single-person Model Y air mattress, which lets one rear seat remain upright and leaves more room for cargo.
In July, Tesla followed that with its $235 Model 3 air mattress, featuring an integrated USB-C-powered pump and compatibility with every generation of Model 3.
