Tesla has quietly ended its first-party vehicle wrap service. The wrap service, which was previously offered for the Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck, has disappeared from the Tesla Shop, and the individual product pages now return a file not found error.
Tesla has not officially announced this change or said why it removed the wrap service.
PPF Wraps
Tesla launched its official wrap program in October 2023 with the Model 3 and Model Y. Unlike most color wraps, Tesla initially used urethane-based Paint Protection Film. PPF is thicker than normal vinyl and provides added protection against chips and scratches, but it is also more expensive.
The original program offered seven colors priced between $7,500 and $8,000, along with clear PPF for $5,000. Installation was initially limited to two California locations and 2023 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
While these wraps were expensive, early impressions showed just how durable the material was compared to traditional vinyl. The PPF used for Tesla’s wraps was roughly 8 to 12 mils thick compared with around 3 to 4 mils for a typical vinyl vehicle wrap.
Tesla expanded wraps to the Cybertruck almost immediately after deliveries began. Matte black and white wraps arrived in December 2023 for $6,500, while a transparent satin film cost $5,000.
Tesla continued adjusting the service. Model 3 and Model Y PPF prices dropped to $5,700 to $6,000 in January, while Satin Abyss Blue joined the available colors. Cybertruck later gained additional color choices, including Satin Rose Gold, Satin Abyss Blue, and Slip Grey.
Switch to Vinyl
The biggest change came in late 2024. Tesla reworked its wrap service and moved away from the more expensive PPF material, beginning to use traditional vinyl wraps.
That change reduced the price to $4,000 for Model 3 and Model Y and $4,500 for Cybertruck. Tesla also expanded installation availability and began allowing vehicles that had already been delivered to get a wrap installed.
Tesla Wraps Are Now Gone
Tesla’s wrap service appears to have ended, with the products removed from its online Shop for the Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck, but the support page still remains with an old FAQ.
Tesla still sells the XPEL Paint Protection Film, which is installed through certified third-party locations and ranges from $400 to $6,500 depending on the parts of the vehicle you want covered.
