Tesla is adjusting subscription pricing across its official vehicle protection programs. Notices sent out to subscribers show that monthly rates for the Wheel and Tire Protection Plan are set to go up starting October 1, 2026, alongside a rate reduction for the Windshield Protection Plan for the Cybertruck.
A customer notice shared by @DhalgrenMarquis detailed the upcoming rate adjustments (via Drive Tesla Canada). For instance, owners of the Model Y Performance will see their monthly Wheel and Tire Protection subscription climb from $20 to $24, a 20% increase. Similar adjustments affect the Model 3 Performance, which will go from $16 to $24 per month, a more hefty 50% jump that will bring both Performance models to the same rate.
The price change arrives about a year after Tesla introduced its Wheel and Tire Protection Plan in the U.S. in August 2025. Other models are expected to see price increases for the Wheel and Tire Protection Plan as well, but new prices for the rest of the lineup are yet to be confirmed. What the Wheel and Tire Protection Plan Covers
The Wheel and Tire Protection Plan is designed to protect owners from unexpected road hazards, covering tires and wheels damaged by potholes, nails, and road debris.
Coverage isn’t restricted strictly to brand-new deliveries. Existing owners can subscribe within 30 days of purchasing and installing a fresh set of tires from Tesla or by passing a brief inspection at a service center. Drivers can subscribe to or manage the plan through the Tesla app by navigating to Upgrades > Service Plans > Wheel and Tire Protection.
Under the plan, Tesla covers unlimited tire puncture repairs at Tesla Service Centers with no deductible. If a tire or wheel is damaged beyond repair, Tesla will replace it for a flat $25 deductible per incident.
However, exclusions apply:
Cosmetic damage, including curb rash, is not covered.
Theft and vandalism are excluded from protection.
Tires with tread depths below 4/32” are ineligible for repair or replacement.
All core coverage rules and benefits will remain unchanged when the price increase takes effect in October.
Cybertruck Windshield Protection Price Cut
While tire protection is getting more expensive, Tesla is lowering rates for its Windshield Protection Plan on the Cybertruck. Monthly pricing for Cybertruck front glass coverage is dropping from $35 down to $25 per month, a 28.5% drop that will save owners $120 annually.
Tesla’s Windshield Protection Plan provides unlimited chip repairs and one full glass replacement per 12-month period. The price reduction offers a welcome break for Cybertruck drivers, given the steep out-of-pocket costs to replace its massive front glass.
