Watch Replay of Tesla's Cybercab Event

Tesla held its Cybercab launch event in Austin last night, giving invited guests rides and a closer look at the purpose-built Robotaxi. The gathering followed weeks of limited information after Tesla confirmed the Cybercab event date and distributed invitations.

Unfortunately, Tesla did not provide a public livestream or advance notice that one would be unavailable. Viewers around the world were left waiting for an official feed that never arrived, although an internal feed was available to Tesla employees.

Surprisingly, Elon Musk was not present at the event. Instead lead engineering, including Tesla’s VP of AI, Ashok Elluswamy, handled the presentation. Despite online speculation about Tesla showing off Optimus or another unannounced product, the event remained focused on Cybercab.

What Tesla Shared at the Event

Cybercab hardware and engineering were the main attractions. Displays gave attendees a closer look at the Cybercab’s hardware, including the integrated Starlink V5 terminal, Supermanifold v3, drive unit and even a look at the unboxed assembly the Cybercab is using.

Another exhibit showed off the Cybercab’s more capable FSD computer. Its exact specifications remains unconfirmed, but it we recently learned that it has more memory than hardware 4. We also recently learned that Tesla is developing its primary FSD models for Cybercab hardware before creating reduced versions for HW4.

Other details covered the Cybercab’s steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire controls, 22-inch cabin display, accessibility features and more.

There were also Cybercab rides for invitees and Tesla announced that the Cybercab would join the Austin Robotaxi fleet the following day. Earlier yesterday, Tesla introduced an updated Robotaxi app that added new features and support for the Cybercab.

Attendee Herbert Ong recorded the roughly 15-minute keynote from the front row and posted it after the event. If Tesla had streamed the event, this is what we would have seen. It’s surprising Elon wasn’t at the event, and it’s not clear if that led to Tesla deciding not to stream the event live.
