Tesla has started rolling out FSD v14.2 Lite for HW3 Model S and Model X vehicles for the first time. While HW3-based Model 3 and Model Y vehicles received FSD v14 Lite back in July, this is the first time the updated FSD stack is going out to the Model S and Model X.
The software arrives with the 2026.27.10 and 2026.27.11 updates, which are the latest FSD releases, but it’s not going out to everyone just yet. The number of Model S and Model X vehicles that received this update is very small and Tesla is likely waiting to make sure no serious issues arise before expanding it further.
While this update is going out to HW3 vehicles, so far we’re only aware of redesigned S/X models getting the update, with legacy models still waiting.
Tesla’s Ashok Elluswamy had already hinted at the release being imminent by revealing at the Cybercab launch event in Austin that the build was supposed to go out the week before.
What FSD Lite Includes
FSD v14.2 Lite is essentially a compressed build of the Hardware 4 v14 stack. Tesla distilled the behavior of its larger AI4/HW4 neural networks, including reinforcement learning and offline models, to run within the compute and camera constraints of Hardware 3.
Before v14 Lite, HW3 cars were stuck on the v12.6 branch for over a year. The FSD v14 Lite release was the first time those HW3 vehicles received features such as Start from Park, parking at destination, shifting between drive and reverse, reversing and speed profiles on city streets.
While FSD v14 is the end of the line for HW3 vehicles, Tesla still continues to update the v14 branch with fixes and better driving behaviors. Tesla FSD v14.1 Lite arrived in August and v14.2 followed in September.
However, HW4 vehicles still have vastly improved automated driving and access to new features, including the new Automatic Collision Evasion introduced with FSD v14.3.9, which is not available in the Lite version.
What to Check
HW3 Model S and Model X owners should keep an eye on their vehicles as we expect additional waves of this update to go out in the coming days. The version to watch is 2026.27.10 or 2026.27.11.
