A Refresher on the Refreshed Semi
Tesla originally debuted the Semi concept in late 2017, but customer deliveries were confined to small pilot programs starting in late 2022. Things really kicked into gear last fall when Tesla unveiled the refreshed Semi in Standard Range and Long Range configurations, followed by the first production units rolling off the new lines in Nevada earlier this spring.
The new Semi features distinct exterior updates, including a reprofiled front light bar reminiscent of the Model Y, better mirrors, and upgraded steering actuators. Underneath, heavy-duty electronics support connection to Megacharger stations capable of dispensing up to 1.2 MW of DC fast charging — allowing drivers to recover up to 60% range during a 30-minute rest break.
