On September 25th, Tesla rolled out the much anticipated button that allows you to request the FSD Beta. Upon pushing the button, Tesla will monitor your driving habits and then allow drivers with the highest Safety Score to try out the latest FSD Beta.
The evaluation period was going to be for seven days, however Elon is now saying that Tesla will wait until version 10.2 of the beta is ready before rolling it out to individuals.
FSD Beta 10.2 is set to be released next Friday at midnight.
This news will come as a disappointment to many who have carefully been maintaining high Safety Scores, but it may also give others an opportunity to raise their scores to be considered for the beta.
The current FSD Beta is version 10.1, which was released last week. Version 10.1 included improvements such as the ability to go in reverse when on Autopilot, but it didn't include highway and city driving on the same Autopilot stack as expected.
We hope we'll see highway and city Autopilot code merged in version 10.2. City driving was much improved when Tesla released it's vision-only Autopilot update in beta 9.0. We hope to see similar improvements to highway driving when Tesla merges highway and city Autopilot usage to one.
