Tesla FSD V14 Lite for HW3 Vehicles Begins Public Rollout

The wait is officially over for Tesla owners driving older vehicles equipped with Hardware 3 (HW3/AI3) computers who have been eager to test out the latest generation of FSD software. FSD v14 Lite has officially gone into public release after weeks of limited testing, now hitting lucky customer vehicles across the U.S.

Regular owners who aren’t a part of early access testing groups have started receiving the update, rolling out with software version 2026.20.6.10. Owners on X, including @AKJHNSN and @Cmoney365247, shared screenshots showing the software arriving on their vehicles. The public deployment is rolling out under software version 2026.20.6.10, signaling that mass distribution to the wider legacy fleet is now underway.

Bringing FSD v14 to HW3

FSD v14 Lite is a shrunk-down, distilled version of the main consumer FSD v14 model designed to run on Tesla’s older, memory-constrained HW3 platform. Interestingly, we recently broke the news that the primary v14 branch is itself a smaller version of self-driving software developed for the Cybercab, which included more memory.

By hyper-optimizing FSD v14 Lite, Tesla engineered a way to bring Hardware 4 (HW4/AI4) features, logic, and driving behaviors to older hardware, acting as a software bridge until physical hardware upgrades can be offered down the road. Since FSD v14 Lite has been condensed from a model designed to run on more powerful hardware, its decision-making is still slower than the main v14 branch (albeit still faster than anything previously available on HW3).

Not a Tesla App

The deployment timeline is moving quickly after a slow start. Tesla first launched FSD v14 Lite late last month, introducing long-awaited features like the ability to start FSD (Supervised) from Park, Arrival Options, Speed Profiles, and more. FSD v14 Lite reached a limited group of early access testers before the rollout paused entirely.

Tesla debuted an updated FSD v14 Lite build earlier this week, packed with major UI improvements and features that were left out of the original release, including optional brake confirm and the Self-Driving app.

From Executive Confirmation to Public Driveways

Tesla’s updated FSD v14 Lite build also only rolled out to early access testers at first. However, Tesla AI chief Ashok Elluswamy said on Monday that this version of FSD v14 Lite would likely go wide, and the rollout has expanded to standard customer vehicles in less than 24 hours.

With public HW3 owners now receiving FSD v14 Lite with software version 2026.20.6.10, the over-the-air update should steadily pick up speed over the coming days. If you own a legacy HW3 Tesla vehicle, keep an eye out for update notifications as the download queue opens up to the broader fleet. The original FSD v14 Lite release already went international earlier this month, launching in South Korea, but there’s no word yet on when this updated build could make its way to other countries.
